Background
BIMAS Kenya Limited, a leading microfinance institution in the country seeks to recruit capable and result oriented individuals to fill the following position.
Responsibilities
- Create Appraisal and Risk
- Check farm plans and farming viability before loan approval.
- Lower risk by advising on safe crops and weather.
- Guide organization to Connect farmers to buyers, shops, and insurance.
- Training and Capacity Building
- Check farm plans and farming viability before loan approval.
- Lower risk by advising on safe crops and weather.
- Guide organization to Connect farmers to buyers, shops, and insurance.
Client Support and Monitoring
- Visit farms often to check on performance.
- Give field advice on pests, fertilizer, and weather.
- Watch loan health and spot early warning signs.
Product Development and Reporting
- Help improve loan products using field facts.
- Send in monthly reports on farm visits and risk.
- Build links with the relevant stakeholders
Qualifications
- Should be 25 years and above
- Be a holder of at least a diploma in Agronomy, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Crop science or its equivalent.
- Have a minimum of grade C plain at KCSE
Experience
Have at least 3 years relevant experience in agronomy, agribusiness advisory, or working with smallholder farmers. Experience with financial institutions an added advantage
Other Details
- Good knowledge of local crops, soils, seasons in the lager Eastern and Central parts of Kenya. Knowledge of Agri-value chains and climate-smart agriculture
- Training/facilitation skills, report writing, motorcycle riding license, data collection tools
- Hold a valid certificate of good conduct (to be provided once successful)
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
- Excellent verbal and written communication
