Key Responsibilities

  • Mainly providing artificial insemination and animal breeding advice
  • Carrying out simple treatment of animals
  • Participating in disease search and reporting
  • Demonstrating milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting
  • Carrying out vaccination
  • Undertaking closed castration, dehorning, de-worming, disbudding and hoof trimming
  • Advise dairy farmers on breeding practices and breeding technologies
  • Perform breeding soundness examination on cows and selection
  • Recording breeding services carried out in farms
  • Carrying out training of farmers and other stakeholders
  • Any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

  • At least Certificate/Diploma in any of the following disciplines: - Animal Health or Animal Health and Production from a recognized institution
  • Must be registered with Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB)
  • Certificate in Artificial Insemination from a recognized institution
  • At least 2 years’ experience in practicing as a VET/A.I
  • Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution; and possess a Driving License (Motorbike riding option) and be willing to ride for long hours.
