We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in supporting financial operations while managing tenant accounts, rent administration, lease records, and credit control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage tenant accounts, ensuring timely billing of rent, service charges, and other property-related charges.
  • Prepare tenant statements and actively follow up on outstanding balances to minimize rent arrears.
  • Support rent collection and debt recovery processes.
  • Maintain accurate lease records, including lease commencements, renewals, rent reviews, and lease expiries.
  • Reconcile tenant deposits, rental income, occupancy reports, and related financial records.
  • Process financial transactions including receipts, payments, invoices, journal entries, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and support budgeting, forecasting, and statutory compliance.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and support internal and external audits.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • CPA Part II or above is mandatory.
  • Minimum 2 years’ accounting experience, preferably in a real estate, property management, or leasing environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of leasing processes, tenant account management, rent administration, property accounting, and credit control.
  • Strong understanding of Kenyan tax and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Assisting in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Reconciling bank statements and general ledger accounts.
  • Managing lease administration, including rent collection and tenant billing.
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assisting with audits and tax preparations.
  • Maintaining accurate and organized financial records.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and MS Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CPA or ACCA is an added advantage.
  • Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or in a similar role.
  • Experience in the real estate industry is a plus.
