Background
KCA University (KCAU) is a private, non-profit institution, founded in July 1989 as Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA) by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) to improve the quality of accountancy and financial management training in the country. KCAU is located on Thika Road in Ruaraka, Nairobi, Kenya.
Job Objective
The Assistant Accountant- Receivables will support daily operations at the Town campus finance office and respond to stakeholders’ financial enquiries.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Billing of duly registered students.
- Receipting of MPESA payments.
- Handle student finance inquiries.
- Verify, post, and issue receipts for payments made to the University via cheques, Mpesa, direct deposit transfers, etc.
- Verify third-party documents presented for receipting to ensure that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures.
- Assist in class spot checks.
- Reconcile daily receipts summary.
- Reconcile the students’ accounts.
- Ensure all cheques received are banked promptly.
- Ensure safe custody of banking slips.
- Ensure all documents are properly filled.
- Assist in checking financial compliance during end-of-semester exams.
- Any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Finance or Accounting) from an accredited/recognised University
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) II.
- One (1) year of relevant work experience in a University or in a comparable Institution.
- Computer skills in relevant areas from a recognised Institution.
Other Skills And Competencies
- Excellent computer proficiency.
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
- Ability to prioritise and plan work schedule.
- Ability to develop spreadsheets and do data analysis.
- Ability to uphold integrity and confidentiality of information.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Customer orientation.
