Background

The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) was established by the Government of Kenya on the 14th of January 2013 under an Act of Parliament-Act No.4 of 2013, to provide research based curricula and curriculum support materials responsive to the needs of the society.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Spearheading the development and enforcement of quality assurance policies, procedures and standards in development of curriculum and curriculum support materials.
• Leading the planning and execution of quality assessments of curriculum and curriculum support materials.
• Coordinating external stakeholder feedback for continuous improvement initiatives in development of curriculum and curriculum support materials.
• Advising management on strategies to enhance compliance with appropriate quality standards in curriculum and curriculum support materials.
• Providing technical guidance to departments on quality integration in development of curriculum and curriculum support materials.
• Monitoring implementation of audit recommendations and institutional performance against set benchmarks in curriculum development.
• Coordinating capacity building for staff in quality assurance and evaluation of curriculum and curriculum support materials.

Requirement for Appointment

• Cumulative work experience of twelve (12) years, three (3) of which must have been at the grade of Principal Quality Assurance Officer or equivalent;
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Curriculum Studies, Quality Assurance, or related field from a recognized institution;
• Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum Studies, Quality Assurance, or related field from a recognized institution;
• Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Membership to a relevant professional body in good standing (where applicable);
• Certificate in computer applications;
• Demonstrated high degree of professional competence, managerial capability, and integrity as reflected in work performance and results.
