About the Role

The BBC World Service aims to inform, educate and entertain audiences worldwide. As an Assistant Editor, you will play a crucial role in shaping our content and ensuring its quality and accuracy. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a globally recognized news organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the editorial planning and production of news content across various platforms.
  • Edit and proofread articles, scripts, and other editorial materials for clarity, accuracy, and style.
  • Fact-check information and ensure adherence to BBC editorial guidelines.
  • Collaborate with journalists, producers, and other team members to deliver high-quality content.
  • Contribute to the development of editorial strategies and content ideas.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in journalism, editing, or a related field.
  • Excellent command of English, with strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Knowledge of current affairs and international news.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • A degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related discipline is desirable.
