Job Purpose

This position is responsible for day-to-day work in the field; implementing and coordinating the Nairobi urban food system programmes and projects.

Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks

Managerial / Supervisory Responsibilities

Operational Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Support food systems planning, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Facilitate digital data collection, mapping, and market linkages.
  • Assist in food safety and post-harvest activities.
  • Train communities on food loss reduction, value addition, and safe food handling
  • Facilitate implementation of the Nairobi Food System Strategy and other Food Policies

Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills).

Academic qualifications

Diploma in any of the following; Agriculture and Rural Development, Sustainable Waste Management (Organic), Agricultural Marketing, Agricultural Extension and Education or Community Development, Agri Business, Food Science and Technology, Food Systems and Food Security related disciplines from a recognised institution.

Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies

Certificate in Computer applications skills from a recognized institution

Skills in Data collection and use of tools such as ODK and Kobo Collect will be an added advantage.

Previous relevant work experience required.
