Background

The Severin Sea Lodge is located at Bamburi Beach directly at the Indian Ocean and affectionately built in a traditional African style.

Responsibilities

As Assistant Housekeeper you keep rooms, public areas, and laundry at Severin Sea Lodge guest-ready, on-site in Mombasa. You report to the Executive Housekeeper and hold the floor, public-area, and laundry supervisors to standard.

• Inspect arrival, stay-over, VIP, and departure rooms, including evening turn-down, and release them to Front Office on time.
• Keep lobby, walkways, public toilets, pool, restaurants, and Imani Dhow presentation-ready through the day, not only after the morning clean.
• Control house and guest linen, guest-laundry turnaround, and staff uniform presentation.
• Report room and public-area defects the same shift, and follow them up until Engineering closes them.
• Keep cleaning supplies, guest amenities, and chemicals available, stored, and used to standard.
• Brief and coach room attendants and supervisors on guest handling, hygiene, security, and no personal phone use in guest areas.
• Set duty rosters that match occupancy, so standards hold on full days and the team stays fully occupied on quiet days.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 3 years in hotel housekeeping, including time supervising room attendants, public areas, or laundry.
• Hands-on room inspection and release to front office.
• Able to lead a shift on the floor, including early starts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Clear English for team briefings and coordination with Front Office.
• Legally authorized to work in Kenya.
