Job Purpose
The Machine Operator Assistant shall provide critical support in the daily operation and
maintenance of industrial machinery. This role ensures that the production area is prepared,
materials are staged, and machines are constantly fed to prevent downtime. The Assistant works
under the guidance of the Machine Operator to maintain high-quality standards, safety compliance,
and efficient material handling.
Primary Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Lead Operator in the configuration and setup of industrial machinery according
to daily production schedules and technical requirements.
  2. Ensure the continuous flow of production by manually loading raw materials into machines
and monitoring intake to prevent blockages or interruptions.
  3. Observe machine indicators and output quality under the Operator’s direction, immediately
alerting the lead to any deviations in consistency or mechanical sounds.
  4. Perform preliminary visual inspections of finished products and assist in using precision
measurement tools to verify that outputs meet required specifications.
  5. Conduct meticulous daily cleaning of machine exterior surfaces and work areas to prevent
dust accumulation and ensure a safe operating environment.
  6. Assist in the retrieval and organization of specialized tools, blades, or hardware required
    for machine changeovers and calibrations.
  7. Support the Lead Operator during routine lubrication and minor technical repairs by
providing tool support and cleaning internal components.
  8. Safely assist in the movement of high-value, fragile, or heavy inventory within the facility,
adhering to weight distribution and rigging protocols to prevent damage.
  9. Systematically collect, sort, and record production waste and scrap material to maintain a
clean workspace and support “Lean” waste-reduction targets.
  10. Strictly adhere to all Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards, including the
mandatory use of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) and dust control measures.
  11. Organize and stage raw materials near the production line to ensure they are “productionready,” minimizing the time spent on material retrieval.
  12. Actively participate in the manual offloading of containers and the secure, organized
loading of finished products onto delivery vehicles.
  13. Assist in the recording of shift data, including unit counts and material usage, ensuring all
    logs are accurate and legible.
  14. Work collaboratively with the packaging and dispatch teams to move finished goods from
the machine area to designated storage zones.
  15. Take primary responsibility for maintaining a hazard-free work station, ensuring floors are
clear of debris and tools are returned to their designated storage shadow-boards.
    Secondary Responsibilities
  16. Immediately communicate any observed facility damages or utility leaks to the supervisor
    to ensure workplace safety.
  17. Actively participate in on-the-job training to gain proficiency in machine calibration and
    troubleshooting for future career growth.
  18. Provide basic labor support to the warehouse or dispatch teams during peak periods or
when production lines are undergoing major maintenance.
  19. Participate in regular team reviews of production SOPs to suggest updates based on handson observations from the machine floor.
  20. Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned by management from time to time to
support the overall operational objectives of the production department.
    Requirements & Competencies
  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related
    technical field.
  • Previous training from the National Youth Service is a requirement for this position.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial warehouse environment.
  • MUST have basic understanding of mechanical and technical processes and a willingness
to learn the use of precision measurement tools.
  • Ability to work well and remain calm under pressure.
  • Punctual, highly disciplined, and able to follow complex instructions with minimal
    supervision.
