Responsibilities or duties
Duties and responsibilities will entail:
- Prepare raw material and finished goods reports.
- Keep track of maintenance records for preventative maintenance of the plant and optimum use of machines and process equipment;
- Follow up on quality assurance records of end products;
- Organize shift duties, leave and address general staff administration matters;
- Ensure that all staff adhere to safety practices and procedures;
- Communicate production plans to shift process controllers;
- Process and monitor on a daily basis chemicals and store requirements;
- Ensure process compliance with ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 22000:2008;
- Provide technical leadership to teams to enable them develop, implement and evaluate departmental plans and budgets aimed at improving performance standards and organizational effectiveness;
- Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff in order to ensure that the candidates selected have the required job competencies and are provided with orientation and induction programmes necessary for effective job performance;
- Review incidences of violations against organizational policy and regulations as well as handle employee disputes and take appropriate action in line with approved policies, procedures and regulations; and
- Plan, monitor and evaluate the performance of staff against set targets and objectives and implement development action plans aimed at building the capacity of individuals and multi-disciplinary teams.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Person Specification
- At least eight (8) years’ work experience three (3) of which should be in a supervisory level.
- Masters degree in any of the following fields: Food Science and Technology; Analytical Chemistry; or Biotechnology or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
- Bachelors degree in any of the following fields: Food Science and Technology; Analytical Chemistry; or Biotechnology or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
- Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks;
- Registration and membership to a profession body (Where applicable)
- Proficiency in computer applications; and
- Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
