General Purpose

Our client, a leading company in the food manufacturing sector, is seeking to recruit a dynamic, creative, and results-driven Assistant Public Relations Officer to join their growing team. This role is ideal for a communications professional who is passionate about building strong brand visibility and maintaining a positive corporate image.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive public relations and communication strategies that promote the company's brand, products, and corporate image.
  • Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, feature articles, speeches, media briefs, newsletters, and other corporate communication materials in line with approved messaging.
  • Build, manage, and sustain strong working relationships with journalists, media houses, influencers, and other key stakeholders to ensure positive media coverage.
  • Coordinate and support media engagements, including press conferences, interviews, factory visits, and media briefings.
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage and public sentiment, preparing regular reports with insights and recommendations for management.
  • Support the organization in crisis communication management, ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent responses to reputational issues.
  • Assist in planning and executing corporate events, product launches, exhibitions, and CSR activities, ensuring effective publicity before, during, and after events.
  • Collaborate closely with the marketing, sales, and management teams to ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communication channels.
  • Manage and update approved communication content across digital platforms, including the company website and social media channels, in line with communication guidelines.
  • Handle public, customer, and stakeholder inquiries professionally, escalating sensitive issues where necessary.
  • Support internal communication initiatives to ensure staff are well-informed and aligned with company values and objectives.
  • Maintain proper documentation and archives of media coverage, communication materials, and PR activities for reference and reporting.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BSc) in Public Relations, Journalism, Communication, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role within a busy organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement communication strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
