Kenchic Limited is the leading producer of poultry in East and Central Africa. At its inception, the company’s main activity was the production of broiler and layer day-old chicks. Over the years the company has expanded operations to include processed chicken and further processed products. The company started its operations in 1984. The company’s Head Office is in Exsan House along Enterprise road. Kenchic is proud to be the largest integrated poultry operation in East and Central Africa and deals in day-old chicks, processed chicken meat and further processed products such as smoked sausages, choma sausages & sausages.
Responsibilities or duties
To fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair metal structures, machinery, and equipment in accordance with technical specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements, ensuring reliable operation of Hatchery equipment and facilities.
- Cut, shape, fit, and weld metal components using appropriate welding techniques.
- Fabricate, modify, and repair machinery, equipment, pipelines, and structural components based on technical drawings and work instructions.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Inspect completed welds and fabricated components to ensure they meet quality standards and technical specifications.
- Carry out routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of welding machines, tools, and related equipment.
- Assist in preventive and corrective maintenance activities requiring fabrication or welding support.
- Identify damaged or worn-out metal parts and recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with workplace housekeeping standards.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and usage of welding equipment, gases, and consumables.
- Strictly adhere to Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), fire safety, environmental, and company Biosecurity requirements at all times.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Certificate or Diploma in Welding and Fabrication, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Valid welding certification.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fabrication plans.
Sound knowledge of welding processes, metal properties, fabrication techniques, and workshop tools.
Experience using hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment, and measuring instruments.
Experience needed
Minimum of 2 years' practical experience in welding and fabrication within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
