Job Summary

The candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering high quality investment solutions across asset classes (equity, quasi-equity, and debt) to clients in the energy sector, including oil and gas and energy infrastructure. This role requires deep sector knowledge, analytical expertise, and the ability to manage complex transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support origination and management of new clients and opportunities within the sector, across Africa.
  • Build, interrogate and maintain detailed financial models for valuation, project finance, and M&A purposes for transaction processes.
  • Conduct financial analysis and risk assessment on transactions
  • Evaluate capital structures, forecast financial performance, and assess the impact of various financing structures within the process of developing tailored financing solutions for clients
  • Prepare transaction materials including pitch books, financial models, valuation analyses, and investment appraisals.
  • Undertake research and analysis, including on prospective clients and companies, to provide sound basis for investment decisions
  • Conduct due diligence on prospective clients and transactions

Education

  • A strong first degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance or a related field of study.
  • Relevant advanced degree e.g. Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, or a related field of study.
  • Relevant certifications related to finance and investment banking.

Experience

  • 7-8 years professional experience preferably in energy and energy infrastructure related investment banking – deal origination and execution.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling, analysis and investment structuring.
  • Excellent research, financial analysis and presentation skills.
  • Excellent relationship management skills.
