JOB DETAILS:

Butali Sugar Mills Limited is an ultra-modern sugar manufacturing company within Kakamega County in Western part of Kenya. BSML seeks to recruit suitable candidates for the following open position:

BOILER OPERATOR.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Operate and monitor boilers in line with standard operating procedures

2. Maintain optimal steam pressure, temperature, and water levels

3. Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of boiler equipment

4. Identify and report faults, leaks, or abnormal operating conditions

5. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and statutory regulations

6. Maintain accurate boiler operation logs and records

7. Coordinate with maintenance and production teams to support uninterrupted operations

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

• Degree/Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Plant Engineering or Boiler Operations from a recognized technical institution (e.g., NITA).
• A valid Boiler Operator's license or Certification from the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSHS) or NITA.
• 5 years of practical experience in operating and maintaining steam boilers, preferably in manufacturing (FMCG) or industrial settings.
• Ability to handle, operate and maintain high-pressure steam boilers, including knowledge of water treatment, fuel systems (oil/biomass) and safety controls.
• Knowledge of safety standards (SHEQ), troubleshooting and basic computer skills.
