Description

To ensure accurate, timely, and compliant billing of patient services, insurance claims, and payments while supporting financial sustainability and a positive patient experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately bill inpatient and outpatient services in accordance with approved tariffs, contracts, and hospital policies
  • Generate and post invoices for self-pay and insurance patients
  • Verify patient details, insurance covers, limits, and authorizations prior to billing
  • Ensure correct capture of services including consultations, investigations, procedures, pharmacy, and accommodation charges
  • Reconcile bills with clinical records and resolve billing discrepancies
  • Prepare and submit insurance claims within agreed timelines
  • Follow up on pending claims, rejections, and queries in liaison with credit control and insurers
  • Issue interim and final bills and support discharge billing processes
  • Maintain accurate billing records, reports, and electronic billing systems
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, clinicians, and insurers regarding billing matters
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical, and confidentiality requirements
  • Participate in audits, revenue assurance, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Support price updates, tariff reviews, and system configuration when required
  • Any other duty as may be assigned

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCES:

  • Knowledge of medical billing systems, insurance processes, and hospital tariffs
  • Experience in mental health or inpatient billing will be an added advantage
  • Strong numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and analytical skills
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
  • Ability to work independently

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Health Records, or a related field
  • At least 2 years’ experience in hospital billing or healthcare revenue cycle management
