Key Responsibilities
- Accurately bill inpatient and outpatient services in accordance with approved tariffs, contracts, and hospital policies
- Generate and post invoices for self-pay and insurance patients
- Verify patient details, insurance covers, limits, and authorizations prior to billing
- Ensure correct capture of services including consultations, investigations, procedures, pharmacy, and accommodation charges
- Reconcile bills with clinical records and resolve billing discrepancies
- Prepare and submit insurance claims within agreed timelines
- Follow up on pending claims, rejections, and queries in liaison with credit control and insurers
- Issue interim and final bills and support discharge billing processes
- Maintain accurate billing records, reports, and electronic billing systems
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, clinicians, and insurers regarding billing matters
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical, and confidentiality requirements
- Participate in audits, revenue assurance, and quality improvement initiatives
- Support price updates, tariff reviews, and system configuration when required
- Any other duty as may be assigned
Key Skills and Competences
- Knowledge of medical billing systems, insurance processes, and hospital tariffs
- Experience in mental health or inpatient billing will be an added advantage
- Strong numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and analytical skills
- Good communication and customer service skills
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
- Ability to work independently
Knowledge and Experience Required
- Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Health Records, or a related field
- At least 2 years’ experience in hospital billing or healthcare revenue cycle management
