Role Objective
We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Branch Manager to provide overall leadership of a busy supermarket branch. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving sales performance, ensuring operational excellence, and delivering outstanding customer experience while maintaining strong control of stock, costs, and staff productivity.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide full leadership and oversight of all branch operations to ensure smooth, efficient, and profitable performance.
- Drive achievement of sales targets through effective planning, execution, and continuous performance monitoring.
- Oversee daily store operations including customer service, merchandising, cash management, and stock control.
- Ensure proper inventory management, including stock ordering, rotation (FIFO), and prevention of losses or wastage.
- Identify underperforming, slow-moving, or obsolete stock and implement corrective action strategies.
- Supervise, train, and motivate staff to achieve high productivity and excellent customer service standards.
- Manage staff schedules, performance, discipline, and general welfare to maintain a strong team culture.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety standards, and all regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile variances to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Oversee procurement processes to ensure timely, cost-effective, and ethical sourcing of goods.
- Monitor financial performance, control branch expenses, and support preparation of operational budgets and reports.
- Analyze sales trends, customer behavior, and product performance to improve decision-making and profitability.
- Maintain high standards of store presentation, merchandising, and overall customer experience.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure proper use of systems (e.g., SAGE or similar) for accurate reporting and stock management.
Job Specifications and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in retail or supermarket branch management.
- Experience in retail or supermarket environments is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control, procurement, and retail operations.
- Experience with SAGE or similar retail management systems is an added advantage.
