Background

MAWASCO was incorporated on 24th August 2005. Its shareholding is currently under the County Government of Kilifi. It stated its operations on 1st February 2006. Its mandate is to provide cost effective and affordable quality water & sanitation service.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct routine quality testing of briquettes including moisture content, density, size uniformity, and durability.
• Inspect and verify feedstock quality before processing.
• Maintain quality records, batch traceability logs, and production documentation.
• Oversee packaging, labeling, and storage of finished briquettes in accordance with utility standards.
• Ensure proper stacking, moisture protection, and FIFO rotation in storage areas.
• Support dispatch preparations and maintain inventory records of finished products.
• Enforce OHS requirements including PPE use, dust control, hygiene, and safe handling of carbonized materials.
• Report quality deviations, defects, hazards, and process bottlenecks to the Production Supervisor.
• Participate in continuous quality-improvement activities and customer-feedback follow-ups.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Quality Assurance, Production Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Experience in briquette production, biomass processing, or industrial manufacturing is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of basic quality-control testing methods.
• Understanding of packaging, labeling, and storage procedures.
• Proficiency in record-keeping and reporting.
