Background
Safer Power is fully registered and licensed EPC, dealing with key projects like Solar, power and energy projects and medium to big size HVAC projects. We specialize in biosafety laboratory EPC, having done various BSL 2, 2+ and 3 labs in Kenya. We are also licensed panel builders by Schneider Electric and we run an assembly workshop where we make switchboards.
The Busbar Processing Technician will be responsible for the fabrication, modification, and assembly of copper and aluminium busbars used in electrical switchboards and power distribution systems. The role requires precision, technical expertise, and a strong understanding of electrical clearances, current ratings, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, cut, bend, punch, drill, and assemble copper and aluminium busbars according to engineering drawings
- Interpret busbar layout drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications
- Operate busbar processing machinery including punching, bending, and cutting equipment
- Maintain required electrical clearances and creepage distances
- Ensure correct dimensional tolerances, alignment, and surface finishing
- Perform quality inspections and measurements using appropriate tools
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times
- Assist with busbar installation into switchboards and panel assemblies
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean working environment
Requirements
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in busbar fabrication or a similar role within switchboard manufacturing
- Strong understanding of power distribution systems and busbar design principles
- Experience working with copper and aluminium conductors
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Experience operating busbar punching, cutting, and bending machines
- Knowledge of electrical standards relating to busbar spacing, insulation, and fault levels
- High level of precision and attention to detail
- Strong understanding of workshop safety practices
