Business Coaches for We Can Work (WCW) Programme - Embu
The coaches are responsible for delivering technical entrepreneurship training using the WCW entrepreneurship curriculum. They also closely monitor and mentor micro-entrepreneurs to ensure effective implementation of the training received. In addition, they will track business sales, growth, and challenges, and provide necessary support through progressive business follow-up sessions.
Key Duties
Mobilization and selection of the We Can Work project participants
- Participate in mobilization of the program participants in accordance with the program criteria.
- Participate in the functional assessment and verification of selected program participants.
- Participate in the onboarding of program participants into the program.
Project Implementation
- Participate in the National TOT for entrepreneurship
- Develop entrepreneurship skills training plan with inclusive training methodologies and align to the WCW academy training timelines.
- Under the supervision of the Entrepreneurship Advisor, conduct high-quality entrepreneurship training for WCW Academy participants and for technical skilling program participants who select the entrepreneurship track, in line with the curriculum provided by the We Can Work Program.
- In collaboration with the We can Work Program Officer ensure all logistics are well coordinated including attendance registers and transport facilitation of program participants.
- Develop a follow up plan for each entrepreneur who receives the entrepreneurship training to enhance progress follow up.
- Conduct regular physical follow up sessions for entrepreneurs and inform the Entrepreneurship Advisor and the WCW program officer on their progress.
- Facilitate the development of business plans and the milestone-based funding and start-up support kit documents for micro entrepreneurs.
- For sustainability, contribute to the market linkage of microentrepreneurs through supporting Micro Enterprises in obtaining procurement opportunities within and without the counties of operation.
- Working closely with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities and Disability Inclusion Facilitators and the WCW program officer to ensure reasonable accommodation is provided for participants who require it during training and coaching sessions.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Collect regular participants’ feedback and concerns on the business progress and document them on the Complain Response Feedback Mechanism database.
- Periodically provide feedback on project activities, business curriculum, and other project tools and resources.
- Development of Entrepreneurship track reports and submitting them to the Entrepreneurship Advisor monthly.
- Working closely with the WCW Monitoring Evaluation Research Learning and Adaptation (MERLA) officer collect and update b participants data using an activity info platform.
- Contribute towards development of project experiences, and lessons learnt on what is working well and what is not working well in the projects.
- Participate in community of practice meetings organized by the program management unit.
- With the Communication team identify stories of interest that can be documented and shared for learning purposes.
Cross cutting
- Representing LFTW in county meetings and other relevant forums.
- Support field visits by project management and others as requested by the office.
Competencies and Qualifications
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business management, agribusiness or related discipline.
- Diploma or certifications in business studies (preferred)
- Background in agriculture or agribusiness (preferred)
Experience
- 2-5 years’ experience in Business development.
- 2-5 years’ experience as a trainer.
- Experience working with international NGOs or Economic Empowerment
- Experience working with persons with disabilities or organizations of persons with disabilities (preferred).
- Practical knowledge of agrifood and market systems within the County, preferred
