Role Context
Tarpo's experiential division is looking for a Business Development & Event Curator to help grow our premium experiential offerings, including luxury mobile camping, private activations for high-net-worth individuals, corporate retreats, and large-scale outdoor events. This is a client-facing role suited to someone who is professional, reliable, and genuinely enthusiastic about building lasting relationships in the luxury hospitality and events space.
You will work closely with our Business Development Administrator and Operations team to identify opportunities, develop compelling proposals, and ensure a smooth, well-supported handover from pitch to execution. Strong collaboration and communication across teams are essential to delivering consistently excellent client experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development: Identify, engage, and build relationships with key decision-makers across East Africa, including DMCs, safari operators, corporate HR/marketing leads, and HNWIs, to generate consistent, high-quality business.
- Experiential Concept Development: Work with clients to understand their objectives and translate them into well-considered event concepts and hospitality experiences aligned with our premium positioning.
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as a trusted, professional point of contact throughout the client journey, from initial pitch through contract signing, ensuring expectations are clear and consistently met.
- Commercial Presentation: Clearly and confidently communicate our operational capabilities and reliability to corporate and safari partners.
- Collaborative Handover: Partner closely with the Business Development Administrator on pricing and contract review, and coordinate a clean, well-documented handover to the Operations Coordinator.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 3–5+ years of experience in business development or event curation within luxury hospitality, experiential marketing, or high-end tourism.
- Established professional network among DMCs, corporate procurement teams, luxury brands, or PR agencies in Kenya.
- Solid understanding of margins, project costing, and proposal development.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach with a strong sense of reliability and follow-through.
- Genuine enthusiasm for and comfort working in outdoor environments, including field visits to remote or rugged locations — this is essential to success in the role.
