Our client in the shipping & logistics industry is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Business Development Executive to drive sales growth and expand their client portfolio in the shipping and logistics sector. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of the local market, industry trends, and customer needs, with proven experience in developing strategic business relationships and securing new business opportunities.
Responsibilities or duties
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities in shipping, freight forwarding, transportation, and logistics services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Conduct market research to identify customer needs, competitor activities, and emerging market trends.
- Develop and implement effective sales and business development strategies to achieve revenue targets.
- Prepare and deliver professional sales presentations, proposals, and quotations to clients.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements with customers.
- Coordinate with operations and customer service teams to ensure smooth service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Attend industry events, networking forums, and trade exhibitions to promote company services.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and business opportunities.
- Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and performance updates for management.
- Ensure excellent customer relationship management and long-term client retention.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in business development, sales, or account management within the shipping, freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain industry.
- Strong understanding of the local logistics market, customer base, and industry operations.
- Established network of clients and industry contacts is an added advantage.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong sales, presentation, and relationship management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and achieve sales targets under minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems.
- Valid driving license is an added advantage.
- Market intelligence and analysis
- Negotiation and closing skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making
- Time management and organization
Experience needed
Minimum 5 years’ experience in business development, sales, or account management within the shipping, freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain industry.
