Background
Our client, a logistics and supply chain solutions company operating across Kenya and East Africa, is looking for a Business Development Executive to grow its customer base and revenue across freight forwarding, customs clearance, transportation, warehousing, and third-party logistics (3PL) services.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business development plans to achieve sales, revenue, and gross profit targets.
- Identify, pursue, and acquire new customers across freight forwarding, customs clearance, transportation, warehousing, and 3PL services.
- Build and maintain relationships with importers, exporters, manufacturers, NGOs, retailers, and other key decision-makers across East Africa.
- Prepare proposals, quotations, and commercial presentations, negotiate terms, and close new business opportunities.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline, track opportunities through CRM systems, and provide regular sales forecasts and performance updates.
- Work closely with Operations, Customer Service, and Finance teams to ensure smooth onboarding, service delivery, and retention of customers.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and business opportunities across East Africa while representing the company at relevant industry and networking events.
Key Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ recent experience in business development or sales within an international freight forwarding, logistics, or 3PL company.
- Experience selling international freight forwarding, customs clearance, transportation, warehousing, and integrated logistics solutions.
- Experience handling international freight across air, sea, and road.
- Knowledge of the logistics market across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Rwanda.
- An existing network of customers and decision-makers within the East African logistics and supply chain industry.
- Proven track record of achieving sales, revenue, and gross profit targets.
- Willingness to travel within East Africa.
