Responsibilities or duties
The CCTV Operator is responsible for monitoring and operating the hospital’s surveillance systems to ensure safety, security, and order within the facility. The role supports patient-centred care by detecting, preventing, and reporting security and safety incidents in compliance with hospital policies and Kenyan legal requirements.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Diploma in Criminology, Security Management, Information Technology, or a related field. CCTV operation or surveillance training is an added advantage. Strong observation and attention to detail. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure. Good communication and report writing skills. Basic computer literacy and CCTV system knowledge. High integrity and ability to handle confidential information. Flexible and willing to work shifts (including nights and weekends). Team player with good interpersonal skills. Ethical, disciplined, and reliable.
Experience needed
At least 1–2 years’ experience in CCTV monitoring or security operations. Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is an added advantage. Experience in a faith-based organization or willingness to support a Christian mission is desirable.
- Monitor live CCTV feeds and review recorded footage to detect suspicious activities, safety risks, or security breaches.
- Ensure continuous operation of CCTV systems and promptly report faults or malfunctions.
- Observe movements within the facility while maintaining patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Record and report incidents accurately in line with hospital procedures.
- Retrieve and preserve CCTV footage for investigations when authorized.
- Collaborate with security personnel, clinical teams, and management during incidents or emergencies.
- Monitor restricted and high-risk areas such as wards, pharmacies, stores, and entry/exit points.
- Maintain updated monitoring logs and incident reports.
- Support access control and visitor management processes.
- Escalate emergencies such as theft, fire, violence, or patient safety risks.
- Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act (Kenya) and hospital policies.
- Uphold the hospital’s mission, values, and ethical standards.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
