COHO – DENTISTRY

Job Purpose

The COHO (Community Oral Health Officer) will provide preventive and basic oral healthcare services, promote dental health, and support patients in maintaining good oral hygiene.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct oral health assessments and examinations within the scope of practice.
• Provide appropriate preventive and basic dental care.
• Perform authorized oral health procedures.
• Provide oral hygiene instruction and patient education.
• Promote preventive dental care and healthy oral-health practices.
• Assist with dental procedures and patient management where required.
• Maintain accurate and confidential dental records.
• Identify patients requiring advanced dental treatment and facilitate referral.
• Maintain proper infection prevention and control practices.
• Ensure dental instruments and equipment are appropriately handled and maintained.
• Participate in community oral-health awareness activities.
• Work collaboratively with dentists, nurses, clinical officers, and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications & Skills

• Relevant qualification in Community Oral Health/Dental Therapy from a recognized institution.
• Valid professional registration and practising licence.
• Relevant clinical experience is an advantage.
• Good communication and patient-care skills.
• Strong commitment to oral health promotion and ethical practice.
