Position Summary
Reporting to the General Manager, the Category Manager will oversee the F&B category strategy, manage key retail accounts, and deliver sales growth and margin targets. The role requires an in-depth understanding of the FMCG market and retail dynamics, ensuring strategic execution across accounts and strong market presence.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Portfolio Management
- Develop and execute the annual category plan (assortment, pricing, promotions).
- Analyze market trends and consumer behavior to identify growth opportunities.
- Provide forecasts and margin guidance to support procurement and business planning.
Key Account Management
- Own relationships with key retail accounts (e.g., Naivas, Carrefour, QuickMart).
- Conduct monthly reviews with buyers, including performance and promotional activities.
- Negotiate pricing, listings, promotions, and shelf space with retail partners.
Sales Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and manage Sales Team Leaders, setting revenue and execution targets.
- Monitor and drive sales team performance, ensuring KPIs are met.
Financial & Performance Accountability
- Deliver monthly performance reports and track category revenue, margin, and distribution depth.
- Ensure commercial agreements are documented and enforced.
Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis
- Maintain ongoing competitor analysis and provide actionable insights.
- Prepare quarterly intelligence reports on market trends and category growth.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
- 7–10 years experience in FMCG sales or category management, with proven track record in managing F&B categories.
- Strong experience in negotiating with retail chains and managing buyer relationships.
- Professional certification in Sales, Marketing, or Category Management is a plus.
