Purpose
One of the leading cement manufacturing companies in Kenya is looking to fill the position of Central Control Room (CCR) Operator. Reporting to the Shift Lead, the role will provide remote oversight and management of cement production operations, with a critical focus on maintaining rigorous safety protocols, upholding product quality, and maximizing operational performance.
Key Duties/ Responsibilities
- Execute all operations in strict adherence to production schedules and targets, ensuring efficient attainment of production objectives
- Operate the plant to ensure continuous conformity to quality specifications, adhering to all quality instructions and maintaining stipulated control parameters at the control room.
- Document all process parameters accurately and on time as stipulated.
- Maximize equipment utilization and efficiency to optimize production output
- Timely communication of all operational challenges or upsets and promptly escalating unresolved issues to the next level.
- Work collaboratively with the Shift In-charge to conduct regular plant inspections, supervise production area cleaning/housekeeping, and execute scheduled maintenance activities within the area of responsibility.
Academic and professional Qualifications and experience required
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Chemical & Process Engineering or any other relevant field
- A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a cement manufacturing setup, gained within the last 3 years.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in control room operations within a manufacturing industry.
- Experience in Vertical Roller Mill (VRM) operations is considered an added advantage.
- An advanced qualification in Chemical & Process Engineering or a related field will also be an added advantage.
Key Skills and Competences
- Comprehensive understanding and adherence to Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards.
- Proven and detailed knowledge of the cement plant production process, including operations, process parameters, and product quality.
- Strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated consciousness regarding energy saving and overall production performance.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheet and database applications.
- Excellent team leadership and time management abilities.
