Background

The 1st Steiner-Waldorf Kindergarten opened in 1998... ...in a small house along the Magadi Road on the outskirts of Nairobi. It was led by 3 teachers from Germany (Florian, Vojko and Irmgard). The following year the school moved to Mbagathi extending the kindergarten to a 1st Grade primary class. 

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate ceramics lessons for students aged 13-16.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized art studio and kiln area.
• Prepare lesson plans and manage material inventory (clay, glazes, tools).
• Showcase student artwork for school exhibitions and events.

Requirements

• Valid registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
• Demonstrated competence across all aspects of craft ceramic work, including hand-building, wheel-throwing, glazing, and kiln firing
• A patient, encouraging teaching style suited to a Waldorf pedagogical environment
• Prior experience teaching ceramics in a school setting is preferred
