Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is mandatory. 1040 TAX
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in taxation, statutory compliance, and related legal/regulatory matters.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Kenya taxation and KRA requirements.
  • Experience in VAT, Income Tax, WHT, PAYE, Excise Duty, and Customs.
  • Proven experience in managing tax assessments, objections, and appeals.
  • Strong exposure to corporate and customer-related legal matters.
  • FMCG, Manufacturing, Dairy, or Beverage industry experience will be preferred.
  • Strong SAP and Excel skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end taxation and statutory compliance, including VAT, Income Tax, Withholding Tax, PAYE, Excise Duty, and Customs/Import Taxes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax returns, payments, statutory filings, and tax reconciliations.
  • Manage KRA audits, assessments, notices, objections, appeals, settlements, and related correspondence.
  • Coordinate with external tax consultants, legal advisors, KRA, and other relevant authorities.
  • Oversee customer-related disputes, claims, recovery matters, and legal cases from a Finance perspective.
  • Monitor company legal cases, statutory registrations, licenses, permits, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Provide tax and business advisory on contracts, imports, inter-company transactions, capital expenditure, promotional schemes, and other business transactions.
  • Identify tax risks, compliance gaps, and potential leakages, and ensure appropriate controls are in place.
  • Maintain legal and compliance trackers and prepare regular MIS reports on tax exposure, legal cases, regulatory notices, and financial provisions.
  • Ensure timely escalation and resolution of high-risk tax, legal, and regulatory matters.
