Chief Accountant

Job Type: Full Time

Qualification: BA/BSc/HND

Experience: 3 - 5 years

Location: Nakuru

Job Field: Finance / Accounting / Audit

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead annual budgeting, financial planning, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and the Board.
  • Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements and coordinate external audits.
  • Manage cash flow, and banking relationships.
  • Oversee student billing, fee collection, and receivables management.
  • Monitor procurement processes, operational costs, and expenditure controls.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the finance team.
  • Provide financial insights to support strategic planning, school growth, and capital projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • CPA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
  • Experience in the education or non-profit sector is preferred.
  • Experience in an international school environment is an added advantage.

  • Sound knowledge of local tax and statutory requirements.
  • High integrity, attention to detail, and strong leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
