Job Context

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Accountant to oversee the financial operations of a prestigious ultra-luxury beachfront hotel in Mombasa. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as the ability to manage a team and ensure compliance with all financial regulations.

Responsibilities

The Chief Accountant will be responsible for:

• Overseeing all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and treasury.
• Preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
• Managing the budgeting and forecasting process.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and tax laws.
• Liaising with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Providing financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
• Leading and mentoring the accounting team.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Proven experience in the hospitality industry is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional leadership and communication abilities.
