Position Description- Chief Data & Business Innovation Officer -MNS/HR/06/2022

Supporting the Chief Executive Officer in driving institutional value, the holder is responsible for developing and governing data and information strategy to drive business decisions and creating the strategy and culture required for employees to experiment with the right resources at the right level to support positive performance impact to Mwalimu National. The successful candidate will have a proven record in data management, business innovation leadership, and information technology governance

Responsibilities:

i. Develop the company’s data strategy aligned to the overall corporate strategy on data
analytics to drive decision making.
ii. Take lead in business and data strategy for value preposition to the entity’s members and
stakeholders.
iii. Designing and implementing data strategies and systems while overseeing the collection, storage, management, quality, and protection of data to facilitate continuous process improvements
iv. Lead, motivate, and manage data teams including the overall strategy of the department
v. Drive the company’s digital transformation agenda, business process re-engineering towards standardization of operations across the branches.
vi. Implementing data privacy policies and complying with data protection regulations.
vii. Deliver new value based on insights derived from data analytics.
viii. Support business initiatives including systems, products and services based on the market dynamics of the financial services.
ix. Effectively communicate the status, value, and importance of data collection to executive members and staff.
x. Support the entity’s cloud computing platforms, relevant applications, big data solutions,
and tools.
xi. Interpret business strategy and determine innovative solutions supporting strategy implementation.
xii. Design and model solutions for customer innovation and experience along with similar initiatives variants.
xiii. Manage and evaluate portfolio data and innovation pipeline assisting strategic decision- making and Go-to-Market process.
xiv. Perform as strategic partner to head innovation that influence change and new processes.
xv. Contribute and influence strategic direction for senior leadership using informal and formal communication.
xvi. Coordinate all cross-functional activities, represent customers internally and collaborate with leaders in varied areas on allocation across projects and resource planning.

Requirements:
i. Bachelor's degree in information technology, data science or business-related field.
ii. Master's degree preferred and an added advantage.
iii. Professional training orientation in Data Science and a certification will be an advantage.
iv. 5-7years experience in a senior-level data management business innovation role.
v. Management experience in financial services data management and innovation acumen
vi. Strong leadership and communication skills.
vii. Solid project management skills.
viii. Data and business analytics skills geared to drive financial services transformation.
ix. A strong background in IT, data science, and business innovation leadership is advantageous.
