The exact mix of work will evolve based on organisational needs. Typical areas include:

  • Leadership support & prioritisation: keeping key priorities moving, tracking actions and deadlines, preparing briefs, and ensuring follow-up.
  • Cross-team coordination & execution: coordinating across operations, with a strong eye on budgets and close integration with finance/admin, partnerships and technical teams to unblock delivery and close out tasks.
  • Operational support & problem solving: stepping into urgent or important operational needs, troubleshooting, and improving how work gets done.
  • Stakeholder and government engagement support: supporting preparation and logistics for meetings with county officials and other senior stakeholders; ensuring actions are captured and driven.
  • Funding and proposal support: supporting proposal preparation, evidence gathering, packaging materials, and internal coordination to meet deadlines.
  • People and culture support: coordinating recruitment logistics, onboarding coordination, team days, internal communications and organisational rhythm.
  • Planning, reporting and information management: building and maintaining simple but effective trackers, dashboards, meeting packs, and documentation so leadership has visibility and teams stay aligned.

Experience and requirements

  • Strong working ability with Excel/Google Sheets, Word/Google Docs, and PowerPoint/Google Slides (building clear packs, trackers, and summaries).
  • Good comfort working with budgets and basic financial checks (e.g., verifying totals, reconciling simple trackers, spotting anomalies).
  • Experience coordinating multiple parties (internal teams and external stakeholders) and managing deadlines.
  • Water or infrastructure sector experience is an advantage, particularly experience working with county government, water service providers, but is not required.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in operations, programme delivery, chief-of-staff/EA+ops, consulting, high-growth start-ups, or similarly fast-paced environment is preferred
  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili (written and spoken).
  • Nairobi-based, with willingness to travel occasionally as required.
