Main responsibilities:

The Child Rights and Business (CRB) Specialit based in Nairobi, Kenya reports to the Global CRB Advisor and is a member of the Child Protection Sector team in Terre des hommes (Tdh). The function conducts its activity within the protection mandate of the sector by providing expertise in the domain of Child Rights and Business and aligning its work with the other domains of expertise within the sector, namely Mental Health Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Case Management (CM), Participation and Empowerment and Safeguarding.

More specifically, the position acts as a technical expert of Tdh in the field of CRB with a particular focus on child protection within this field. S/he coordinates and is responsible for the implementation of technical interventions including the assessments, design, coordination, capacity-building, coaching, supervision, monitoring, reporting, and evaluations. Supports the line supervisor in the representation and fundraising/client acquisitions efforts.

The CRB Specialist ensures the technical quality of Tdh CRB interventions in the engagements with the private sector and other stakeholders and their alignment with international and Tdh’s child rights and child protection standards, particularly in ensuring links with the formal child protection system and informal community-based mechanisms.

Profile:

Education :

  • Master’s degree in the field of social work, psychology, international relations, international development.
  • Advanced training on Human Rights and Business, Child Protection, Child Rights, PCM.
  • Knowledge of the global child protection standards and best practices – specifically in the areas of community-based child protection, case management, systems strengthening and child labour.

Experience / Skills :

  • 10 years of experience in the humanitarian and/or international development sectors, working in Child Protection.
  • Min 5 years of experience acting in a specialist and program management role in the field of child rights and business and/or child Protection.
  • Proven experience in the field of children’s rights within the private sector, human rights due diligence, child protection, community-based child protection, case management, child labour programming, systems strengthening and working with children, young people and/or adults who are vulnerable
