One of Kenya’s first coffee estates was established in Spring Valley, on the outskirts of Nairobi, in 1905. Since 2009, we’ve been roasting coffee in the neighbourhood where it all began. We’re passionate about sourcing incredible and unique Kenyan coffees and roasting them in small batches at our Roastery in Nairobi. 

The Role

As our Coffee Experience Host, you’ll be the face of Spring Valley Coffee inside a 5-star hotel, turning every cup into an incredible experience. You’ll prepare coffee, guide guests through the bean-to-cup story, and bring warmth, confidence, and excellent service to every interaction. This is a role for someone who loves people as much as they love coffee - someone who takes pride in craft, presentation, and representing a brand with excellence.

Location & Work Structure

Full-time role based at a 5-star hotel in Nairobi.

You’ll represent Spring Valley Coffee on-site daily, working closely with both hotel staff and our Coffee Team.

Reports to the Head of Wholesale.

Requires polished presentation, consistent professionalism, and strong customer interaction skills.

Role and Responsibilities

Guest Experience

  • Deliver warm, engaging guest interactions that embody 5-star hospitality.
  • Prepare exceptional coffees consistently and confidently.
  • Share the Spring Valley Coffee story with clarity, passion, and accuracy.
  • Host cupping sessions and tasting experiences for guests and hotel teams.

Coffee Craft

  • Roast small sample batches on a simple roaster and explain the process to guests.
  • Dial in espresso, maintain brew quality, and follow set recipes.
  • Maintain an immaculate, guest-ready coffee and cupping station at all times.
  • Document roasting logs, recipes, and tasting notes accurately.

Partnership & Operations

  • Work closely with hotel staff to support their understanding of specialty coffee.
  • Share guest trends and feedback with the Spring Valley Coffee team.
  • Ensure safe and compliant operation of all coffee equipment.
  • Represent our brand with professionalism, warmth, and consistent high standards.

Experience & Education

  • Strong barista skills with confidence in specialty coffee fundamentals.
  • Comfortable engaging guests in a calm, friendly, and polished manner.
  • Good communicator who can explain coffee simply and accurately.
  • Organised, reliable, and committed to maintaining a high standard of presentation.
  • Bonus: experience in cupping, light roasting, or hosting tasting sessions (training will be provided)
