Job Opportunity: Collection Officer

Job Purpose

The Collection Officer will be responsible for supporting the company’s loan recovery and collection’s function. The role focuses on ensuring timely repayment of loans, maintaining positive client relationships while achieving set company collection targets.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and follow up on overdue loan repayments
  • Proactively contact clients (via phone, email, and in-person where necessary) to recover overdue loans as per client loan agreements
  • Assist with court process claim recovery as guided by court demands
  • Maintain accurate records of all demand letters issued to clients and client-related agreements
  • Monitor loan accounts and flag high-risk or delinquent accounts
  • Prepare regular reports on collection activities, collections performance and outstanding balances
  • Work closely with management to implement effective loan recovery strategies
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in handling client information

Job Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field
  • At least 2–4 years’ experience in a microfinance institution (preferably in loan recovery in financial services)
  • Proven track record in loan collections and recovery
  • Assertive in nature with good communication skills in both Swahili and English.
