COLLECTIONS OFFICER

Job Title: Collections Officer
Department: Credit & Collections
Reports To: Collections Supervisor / Collections Manager

Job Purpose

To manage customer accounts with overdue payments by ensuring timely collections, maintaining positive customer relationships, and minimizing credit losses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor accounts receivable and overdue customer accounts.
  • Contact customers to collect outstanding payments.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements within approved guidelines.
  • Update collection records and customer account information.
  • Investigate disputed accounts and resolve billing issues.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly collections reports.
  • Escalate non-performing accounts for further recovery action.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain professional customer interactions throughout the collections process.
  • Support continuous improvement of collections processes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Banking, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years' experience in collections, customer service, or accounts receivable.
  • Experience in financial institutions is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial management systems.
