JOB PURPOSE:
The Commercial Finance Analyst is responsible for providing timely, accurate, and insightful financial analysis to support commercial decision making and drive business performance. The role ensures effective financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, tax compliance, and financial reporting while partnering with cross functional teams to identify growth opportunities, optimize costs, and enhance profitability. The incumbent will support the organization's commercial strategy by delivering data driven insights, maintaining financial integrity, ensuring regulatory compliance, and continuously improving financial processes to achieve sustainable business objectives.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in any of the above stated role.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Be comfortable interacting with executive-level management.
- Strong financial modeling experience.
- Proven experience in ecommerce landscape.
- A creative thinker with strong interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional time and deadlines management skills; ability to lead, organize, prioritize, and manage a team to drive goals and objectives.
- Adaptable and flexible; responsive and resourceful in a fast-paced business.
- Monthly Taxes review and analysis.
- Analyze financial data and create financial models for decision support.
- Guide the cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Retrieval of tax GL entries for analysis and populating excels for analysis for the taxes to be paid.
- Evaluate financial information to assess the company’s strength and weaknesses, develop strategies to reduce waste and decrease costs, and implement strategies to improve financial stability.
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing department to create new promotions and marketing campaigns to bring in new revenue.
- Monthly revenue forecast.
- Consulting with the management team to develop long-term commercial plans.
- Physical checking of all the invoices for input in Tax returns.
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly and ad hoc reports to support business decision making.
- Preparing of Payment Request Form (PRFs) for signing.
- Manage the accounting function of the entities assigned from time to time.
- Populating data packs for review before uploading them on I-Tax.
- Prepare and upload customs payments in SAP and follow up on approvals.
- Following up tax certificates for withheld VAT / WHT from suppliers.
- Leading the company budgeting process.
- Preparing KPI analysis & supporting commentary on key variances.
- Manipulating & analyzing data to identify underlying trends.
- Consistently striving to improve processes and the quality of finance data.
- Investment analysis/business cases.
- Updating tax payment schedule post tax returns and payments.
- Updating export rebates schedule and non-recoverable tax schedules.
- Preparing supporting documents for month end tax journal for review (WHTax, WHVAT, I-Tax credits).
- Review monthly KRA reports on VAA and cross check with SAP records (invoices, journals) and bank payments.
- File monthly VAA amendments on I-Tax as required by KRA.
- Retrieval of documentation for external/internal audit.
- Retrieval of documentation for KRA audits.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
