The Intern will:

  • Support the coordination and launch of climate publications.
  • Support the outreach and distribution of key UNEP reports and campaigns to relevant audiences, partners and networks, ensuring appropriate and timely follow-up.
  • Coordinate updates to climate-related webpages and help ensure content remains accurate and current.
  • Support the planning and delivery of key climate related events and campaign activations.
  • Track communications outputs and funded deliverables, contributing to internal, periodic and donor reporting.
  • Prepare meeting notes for select recurring meetings and follow up on agreed actions.
  • Lead selected initiatives based on their interests and skills, under supervision.
  • Liaise with UNEP’s editorial, multimedia, social media, web and translation teams to support the timely delivery of communications products.
  • Where relevant, apply design skills to support the preparation and adaptation of presentations, social media assets and other communications materials.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).

Preferred areas of studies: Communication, International affairs, or environment-related field preferred. No working experience is required. Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage.
