PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Total Reward & Payroll Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and administration of competitive compensation and benefits programs aligned with our business objectives and employee value proposition. Reporting to the Total Reward & Payroll Manager, this role ensures compliance, operational excellence, and data accuracy across all reward-related activities.

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the design and maintenance of salary structures, pay scales, and incentive schemes in alignment with organizational goals and market trends.
  • Administer employee benefits programs including medical insurance, life insurance, retirement/pension plans, and other non-monetary rewards.
  • Support in the regular compensation benchmarking, job evaluations, and market surveys to ensure competitiveness and internal equity.
  • Support the annual compensation review process, including salary adjustments, bonuses, and incentive calculations.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate data for payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate compensation transactions.
  • Collaborate with external providers for benefits administration and renewals; ensure quality service delivery.
  • Respond to employee inquiries related to pay, benefits, and reward policies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws, tax regulations, and internal compensation and benefits policies.
  • Provide analytical support and reporting on compensation and benefits metrics, including cost analysis and forecasting.
  • Participate in audits and ensure appropriate documentation and controls for compensation and benefits programs.
  • Facilitate the application of NSSF, SHIF and HELB Compliance certificate;
  • Any other related tasks as they may be assigned from time to time.

Key Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Behavioural Competencies

Academic and Professional Requirements

  • Education    Bachelor’s Degree    
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Professional Qualification    

  • Professional certification – CHRP in progress
  • CPA 1 is an advantage.

Experience Required:

  • Relevant experience    Minimum of 4 years
  • (Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in compensation and benefits, preferably in the insurance or financial services sector.)

Skills and Competencies:

  • Familiarity with payroll software (e.g., Perpay) and HR information systems is essential for data accuracy and compliance. Leadership Experience: At least two (2) years of team leadership or project experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and motivate others. Vulnerability Management: Proven experience in conducting penetration tests vulnerability assessments and leading closure of findings through collaborating with various stakeholders (Internal & External IT Auditors, IT Risk, External Pentesters etc)
  • Understanding of health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits; experience managing third-party vendors and benefits platforms. Skilled in IT risk management, cyber threat mitigation, and hands-on problem-solving with strong analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros), Power BI, or similar tools for preparing compensation reports, cost analysis, and audits. Strategic, adaptable, and budget-conscious decision-maker, aligning security initiatives with business objectives and managing vendor relations effectively.
  • Familiarity with local compensation and tax regulations to ensure compliant payroll and benefits practices.
  • Strong understanding of compensation principles, employee benefits administration, and applicable labor laws.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems, as well as Microsoft Excel (advanced level preferred).
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
