Responsibilities or duties
EngenderHealth is seeking proposals from qualified accounting firms with extensive experience in the international not-for-profit sector to provide comprehensive audit services for our Kenya operations. The selected firm will ensure financial compliance, conduct rigorous examinations of organizational accounts, and provide expert oversight to support our commitment to transparency and high-quality program delivery.
We are seeking a qualified accounting firm with extensive experience with international not-for-profit organizations to perform the following the following services:
Meet with EngenderHealth Kenya’s Senior Management prior to year-end in preparation for the audit and coordinate audit activities with Senior Finance & Operations Manager and Controller. EngenderHealth’s fiscal year ends June 30. We prefer to schedule audit fieldwork for mid-August, delivery of initial draft financial statements by September 15 and delivery of final draft reports no later than September 30.
Perform annual audit of the financial statements in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards and will additionally require compliance testing and a study of internal accounting controls. The successful offeror will be required to certify that each audit is performed in accordance with all applicable regulations and in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the
United States of America (“US GAAP”), IFRS and any applicable local standards Prepare management letter containing comments and recommendations with respect to accounting and administrative controls and efficiency.
File annual income tax returns in itax following the end of EngenderHealth’s fiscal year based on the approved audited accounts.
Support throughout the year to provide ad hoc advice and guidance on financial accounting and reporting issues, as well as be available to answer audit-related questions

- Be available to answer audit-related questions.
- Extensive experience in international not-for-profit sector audit.
- Knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards.
- Proficiency in US GAAP, IFRS, and applicable local standards.
- Expertise in compliance testing and internal accounting controls.
- Ability to prepare management letters with recommendations.
- Experience with Kenyan tax filing (itax).
- Strong financial accounting and reporting advisory skills.
- Qualified accounting firm with extensive experience with international not-for-profit organizations.
- BA/BSc/HND (implied for individuals within the firm).
