Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct consultation meetings with experts from UNDRR, AUC, RECs, Selected AU Member States and other partners for guidance, comments, reviews and collections of inputs and document the findings for future reference. This will include consultation on the existing documents such as the draft Strategic Plan and SEBE strategic Plan
- Ensure the Strategic plan is aligned with global policies and initiatives such as the AU Agenda 2063, Sendai framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, Paris Agreement and Early Warning for All initiative 3. Present the draft Strategic Plan to all relevant partners and stakeholders for comments and reviews
- Develop a results framework with indicators, targets, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) mechanisms.
- Facilitate validation workshop for the proposed Strategic Plan with key partners, stakeholders to collect feedback to be incorporated in the draft Strategic Plan.
- Prepare the Strategic Plan Implementation plan and Propose a financing and resource mobilization strategy.
- Submit the desktop published Strategic Plan to the Africa Union Commission through UNDRR Regional Office for Africa The consultant will work under the general supervision of the Programme Management Officer- UNDRR-ROA
Qualifications/special skills
- Ten (10) experience in Disaster Risk Reduction, Early Warnings, Climate Change or any other relevant field is required.
- Experience in the development of strategic plans or frameworks for national, regional or multilateral institutions is required
- Experience in development of strategic plans or frameworks for national, regional or multilateral institutions is required.
- An understanding of African institutional frameworks and development agendas is desirable
- Excellent analytical, facilitation, and report-writing skills is desirable
- Experience working with multilateral organizations, governments, and development partners is desirable.
