Job Purpose
To coordinate the design, administration, quality assurance, analysis, and reporting of learning assessments while strengthening data management systems that generate timely, reliable, and actionable insights from assessment data. The coordinator will be in charge of the day-to-day management of tasks related to development of grade-specific benchmarks, development of assessment items and establishment of an assessment item bank. S/he will also be part of the team working to set up a dashboard to ease monitoring of progress against set benchmarks. The coordinator will provide in-house technical leadership on benchmarks, assessments, analysis, capacity development and interpretation of assessment data into actionable insights at the different levels of implementation.
Key responsibilities
A. Assessment Coordination & Administration
- Coordinate the planning, preparation, and implementation of grade-specific, competency-aligned benchmarks,
- Design frameworks and tools to guide the development of formative and summative, assessments.
- Support the development, adaptation, formatting, and administration of assessment tools aligned with competency-based learning frameworks.
- Coordinate assessment logistics, scheduling, and deployment with program teams and partners.
- Ensure standardized assessment administration procedures are followed across implementation sites.
- Maintain assessment inventories, item banks, scoring guides, and administration manuals.
- Lead the establishment of an assessment item bank as part of ongoing efforts to equip educators on formative assessment practices. Support onboarding and orientation of assessment enumerators, field teams, and program staff.
- Support periodic reviews of assessment methodologies and data quality standards.
B. Assessment Data Management & Quality Assurance
- Coordinate the collection, cleaning, validation, transformation, and secure storage of assessment datasets.
- Perform quality checks to identify inconsistencies, missing data, duplicates, and anomalies.
- Maintain clear documentation of data cleaning procedures and quality assurance processes.
- Ensure assessment datasets are complete, well-structured, and analysis-ready.
- Support compliance with data protection, safeguarding, and ethical standards in handling learner information.
- Coordinate analysis of assessment data, reporting and visualization, including development of dashboards and data management systems/platforms to monitor trends in performance across implementation sites.
- Maintain organized digital repositories for assessment tools, datasets, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Develop and maintain metadata, naming conventions, version control, and file indexing systems.
C. Curriculum Feedback & Continuous Improvement
- Synthesize assessment findings to identify curriculum strengths, learning gaps, and instructional priorities.
- Generate insights on an ongoing basis to inform assessment and instructional practices at classroom, school, sub-national and national levels.
- Support documentation of lessons learned and best practices emerging from assessment implementation.
D. AI-Enabled Assessment & Data Innovation
- Utilize AI-supported tools to improve administration of assessments, data processing, coding, , and reporting.
- Support automation of assessment dashboards and reporting workflows where appropriate.
- Promote responsible and ethical use of AI in assessment and management of assessment data.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through digital assessment technologies.

- Experience with data cleaning, analysis, and visualization using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with competency-based education and foundational learning programs is preferred.
