Responsibilities or duties
CBE Programme Design and Development
Design and develop CBE curricula, course modules, and criterion-referenced assessments based on competency frameworks and learning outcomes.
Ensure alignment of program content with professional standards, industry demands, and institutional objectives.
Utilize instructional design best practices, frameworks like ADDIE integrated with CBE principles to create modular, flexible, and scalable curricula.
Competency Framework Implementation
Lead mapping and definition of competencies, learning objectives, and milestones within curricula.
Facilitate collaboration with academic departments, industry partners, and accreditation bodies to validate competency requirements.
Implement innovative, learner-centered instructional approaches, such as project-based and adaptive learning.
Program Evaluation, Quality Assurance and Research
Develop continuous monitoring and evaluation strategies for curriculum effectiveness based on learner data and feedback.
Drive adoption of technology-enabled learning platforms that support personalized and competency-focused learning.
Lead continuous improvement cycles and reporting.
Faculty Development and Change Management
Design and deliver workshops, toolkits, and coaching to build faculty capacity for CBE pedagogy, assessment, and adaptive instruction. change management efforts to ensure institutional buy-in and sustainable adoption.
Policy and Advocacy
Influence institutional policy on CBE.
Represent the university's CBE efforts at conferences and professional events.
Engage with external stakeholders to ensure CBE programs are relevant and produce highly skilled graduates.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Minimum Academic Qualifications
Master’s or PhD in Education, Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, or related field.
Professional Qualifications / Membership to Professional Bodies/ Publication
Relevant professional qualification and membership, where necessary
Experience needed
Work Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in designing and managing competency-based education programs, preferably in higher education settings.
Knowledge of competency frameworks (e.g., ACGME, CanMEDS) and best practices in outcome-based education.
Familiarity with learning technologies, authoring tools (e.g., SCORM, Articulate), and user experience design principles.
