Job Description
The Corporate Finance & Treasury Analyst is a dual-mandate role supporting the Corporate Finance Manager through a mix of analytical, deadline-driven tasks (financial modeling, covenant compliance, investor/lender reporting) and fixed operational routines (managing d.light's funding structures and daily/weekly/monthly group liquidity). Designed for an analytically strong, highly organized professional, the position offers exposure to structured and off-balance-sheet finance, debt capital markets, and multi-market treasury management, requiring comfort with both project-based analysis and strict calendar obligations.
Roles & Responsibilities: Stream A — Corporate Finance
Financial Modelling & Analysis
- Develop and maintain robust financial models to support fundraising, strategic planning and investment decisions.
- Conduct macroeconomic research and maintain up-to-date financial model assumptions.
- Perform scenario analysis, sensitivity testing and stress testing to assess financial risks and opportunities.
- Prepare financial forecasts and valuation models for strategic initiatives.
- Build and maintain the medium- and long-term liquidity and funding plan.
- Track actual business outcomes against strategic objectives, highlighting adverse deviations for timely corrective action.
Covenant Compliance & Lender Reporting
- Calculate, track and forecast financial covenant compliance across all facilities.
- Prepare compliance certificates and other reporting deliverables required under funding agreements.
- Prepare regular reports, presentations and dashboards for lenders, investors and financial partners.
- Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements arising from funding agreements.
Fundraising & Investor Support
- Support the execution of debt and equity fundraising activities.
- Prepare investor presentations, investment memorandums and due diligence materials.
- Maintain the data room and coordinate responses to investor and lender information requests.
- Model the impact of proposed facility terms, pricing and structures on the group’s capital structure, cash flows and covenant headroom.
Roles & Responsibilities: Stream B — Treasury Operations
Receivable Finance & SPV Operations
- Manage the monthly sale of new receivables into the receivable financing SPVs across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria and Zambia to unlock cash receipts in a timely fashion.
- Ensure daily cash sweeps to the SPVs are executed in compliance with the related agreements and maintain the supporting compliance evidence.
- Support receivable eligibility testing and proactively work to maximize the advance rate against eligible receivables.
Liquidity Framework & Cash Discipline
- Consolidate OpCo cash submissions into the group rolling cash flow forecast, challenge the inputs, and explain variance against forecast.
- Maintain cash generation and cash conversion KPI reporting by country and channel, making cash flow drivers visible to OpCo finance leads and management teams as well as the Group ExCo.
- Produce the weekly liquidity flash reports, liquidity governance pack and supporting cash dashboards to country financial controllers and management teams.
- Continuously monitor minimum cash thresholds and escalation triggers and immediately escalate projected shortfalls.
Debt, FX & Banking Administration
- Maintain the group debt register, including facility terms, drawdown schedules, pricing and repayment calendars.
- Calculate and schedule interest and principal payments, and ensure timely settlement of all debt service obligations.
- Monitor foreign exchange exposures and execute currency conversions and hedging instruments strictly within the Board-approved hedging mandate, maintaining complete hedge documentation.
- Administer bank accounts, mandates, signatories, KYC documentation and banking platform access across the group.
- Monitor counterparty exposure against approved limits and bank charges against agreed tariffs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
- CFA/CPA/ACCA/CA or equivalent qualification is mandatory.
- A treasury qualification (ACT CertT/AMCT, CTP or equivalent) is a strong added advantage.
- 5 - 8 years of experience spanning both corporate finance analysis and treasury or finance operations. Candidates with depth in only one of the two streams are unlikely to succeed in this role.
- Strong experience in financial modelling, valuation and corporate finance principles.
- Hands-on experience operating banking platforms and executing settlement and treasury transactions in a controlled and automated environment.
- Experience working across multiple currencies, entities and banking jurisdictions.
- Exposure to structured, securitization or receivables financing structures, and to lender covenant reporting, is strongly preferred.
- Experience in emerging markets, and familiarity with mobile money and local currency control regimes, is an advantage.
