Job Purpose:

The job holder will be responsible for driving sustainable business growth through the acquisition of new business, development and management of assigned distribution channels and target markets, and retention and growth of existing policies and accounts within the product portfolio assigned to them. The role will be accountable for identifying and developing new business opportunities, building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, intermediaries and other key stakeholders, and ensuring delivery of agreed sales, revenue, profitability and retention targets.

The job holder will also support the development and execution of sales and distribution strategies, drive product penetration and cross-selling/upselling opportunities, monitor market and competitor trends, and work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure effective onboarding, servicing and overall customer experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive and implement strategic initiatives assigned by your supervisor.
  • Adhere to the processes and procedures set out by the company across all departments.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with assigned intermediaries and partners.
  • Ensure intermediaries assigned to you are regularly and adequately trained on markets, products as well as the associated processes assigned to you.
  • Ensure your assigned intermediaries have adequate on-ground activities to support your intermediaries build a robust list of prospects.
  • Develop, grow, and maintain a sales pipeline and prepare a weekly report on the same for your supervisor.
  • Support your assigned intermediaries with prospect/client presentations and closing sales.
  • Communicate and aggressively market approved sales competitions/incentives to your assigned intermediaries.
  • Ensure your intermediaries (or partners) are paid their commissions and incentives in full and on time.
  • Acquire new business through your assigned distribution channel and intermediaries.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-selling and/or up-selling your assigned products from other business development teams within Britam.
  • Grow the productivity (or the number) of intermediaries (or partners) assigned to you that are regularly selling your products.
  • Participate in the introduction and promotion of new products assigned to you.
  • Participate and contribute to the formulation of the department’s strategic and operational plans.
  • Prepare monthly reports of your personal performance to your supervisor.
  • Delegated Authority: As per the approved Delegated Authority Matrix
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required:

  • Bachelors’ degree (Preferably in a business-related field)
  • Professional qualification in Insurance (CoP, ACII, IIK)
  • 2-4 years’ relevant experience in the insurance industry

Technical/ Functional competencies:

  • Knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of insurance products
  • Sales and marketing management skills
