Background
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is an international financial institution and a specialized agency of the United Nations dedicated to eradicating poverty and hunger in developing countries. IFAD invests in rural people, empowering them to increase their food security, improve their nutrition and raise their incomes.
Responsibilities
The Country Finance Associate will be responsible for providing financial and administrative support to IFAD's operations in Kenya. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the preparation and processing of financial transactions, including payments, receipts, and journal entries.
- Maintaining financial records and ensuring their accuracy and completeness.
- Supporting the preparation of financial reports and statements.
- Assisting with budget monitoring and control.
- Providing administrative support, including managing correspondence, filing, and organizing meetings.
- Liaising with local banks and other financial institutions.
- Ensuring compliance with IFAD's financial policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A secondary school diploma or equivalent. A higher education qualification in finance, accounting, or a related field is an asset.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting, preferably in an international organization or a developing country context.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with financial management systems is desirable.
- Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English and Swahili is required.
Contract Details
This is a fixed-term contract position.
