CREDIT ASSESSMENT OFFICER
Job Title: Credit Assessment Officer
Department: Credit
Reports To: Credit Manager
Job Purpose
To evaluate loan applications by assessing applicants' creditworthiness, financial capacity, and repayment ability while ensuring compliance with organizational credit policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess loan applications and supporting documentation.
- Conduct credit analysis, affordability assessments, and risk evaluations.
- Verify applicant information through credit reference bureaus and other approved sources.
- Prepare credit appraisal reports and recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor approved facilities and identify emerging credit risks.
- Liaise with relationship officers and customers to obtain additional information where necessary.
- Maintain accurate credit records and documentation.
- Support portfolio quality through sound credit decision-making.
- Participate in continuous improvement of credit assessment processes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1–3 years' experience in credit appraisal, underwriting, or credit risk management.
- Knowledge of credit scoring, financial statement analysis, and lending regulations in Kenya.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and credit management systems.
