On behalf of our client, we are looking for a competent, skilled, and experienced Customer Service Operations Officer – Transit Operations to work in Kenya.

Job Purpose

This position will be responsible for managing transit shipments through the Port of Mombasa, with a primary focus on cargo destined for Uganda, while also supporting movements into Rwanda, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Key Responsibilities

Transit Operations Management

  • Manage end-to-end customer service for transit shipments through the Port of Mombasa.
  • Coordinate customs clearance, transport planning, and cargo movement into Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, and the DRC.
  • Provide customers with timely shipment updates and proactive communication.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with transporters, customs authorities, shipping lines, border agencies, and internal teams to ensure smooth cargo movement.
  • Monitor shipment milestones and resolve operational issues promptly to minimise delays.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure compliance with transit procedures, customs regulations, and company SOPs.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and prepare customer reports where required.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing customer experience and operational efficiency.

Other Duties

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

Education

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Clearing & Forwarding, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experiencein freight forwarding/clearing and forwarding operations.
  • Demonstrable experience managing transit cargo through Mombasa into Uganda is essential.
  • Good understanding of transit procedures for Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, and the DRC.
  • Knowledge of Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Kenya TradeNet, and regional transit documentation is an added advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of customs clearance and transit documentation processes.
  • Familiarity with regional transit corridors.

Core Competencies

  • Customer-centric mindset.
  • Strong operational planning and coordination skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
