The role holder will leverage creativity, business intuition, excellent communication, problem solving skills to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures to support analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate is experienced in data integration, ETL processes, with a strong understanding of data modelling, warehousing, and governance principles.

Responsibilities or duties

Build Data Pipelines: Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines to reliably ingest, process, and consolidate data from diverse sources at scale.

Data Modeling and Warehousing: Build and manage efficient data models, data warehouses, and data platforms to support BI and advanced analytics initiatives.

ETL/ELT Optimization: Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes for maximum performance, scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency.

Data Quality and Governance: Implement and enforce standards for data quality, security, and governance across all data assets.

Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and tune data pipelines, and systems for performance and reliability.

Production Integration: Support the deployment and integration of machine learning models and analytical products into production and enable automation of solutions.

Requirements Collaboration: Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver clean, reliable, and well-documented datasets.

Architecture and Strategy: Contribute to the overall data strategy, architecture design, and continuous process improvement initiatives.

Reporting and Metrics Automation: Develop and automate metrics, dashboards, and reports to monitor data governance trends, such as data quality.

Technical Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation on data pipelines, configurations, setups, and deployment of data solutions.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

BSc. Information Technology / Computer Science / Telecommunications / Engineering or related

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent combination of education and experience.

A master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Information Technology, Advanced Analytics, or a Related Field will be an added advantage.

Professional certifications, such as Data Analytics, Data Engineering, or Data Science-related certifications, will be an added advantage.

Experience needed

5 years’ minimum experience is required, together with the following essential experience:

3 years of experience in data warehousing

2 years of experience in data analytics and modelling

5 years of experience in the use of any ETL tool, e.g., Oracle ODI/Microsoft SSIS/SAP Data Services/Alteryx or any other tool.

2 years of experience in programming (Python and/or) R).

2 years of experience in Data Visualization e.g., OBIEE/Power BI/Tableau/SAP BI tools.

5 years of experience in SQL (Oracle PL/SQL).

2 years of experience in Data Governance/Data Quality is desired.
